Chocolate Graham Cracker Cake

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 25 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°f.
  • 2 cream butter and add sugar and egg yolks, mixing until well combined.
  • 3 add graham craker crumbs, baking powder, cocoa, salt, milk, vanilla extract; mix well.
  • 4 beat egg whites until stiff and fold into mixture.
  • 5 pour batter into two greased and floured 9 inch round pans.
  • 6 bake 25-30 minutes. cool slightly. turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  • 7 combine the cream and sugar in a small saucepan and heat to a boil. pour the hot mixture over the chocolate and butter in a medium bowl.
  • 8 stir until completely melted and smooth. serve warm over cake.
