Chocolate Fudge Cake

Ingredients

- 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/3 cups water
Recipe
- 1 cream butter, shortening and sugar in a large bowl.
- 2 add eggs and vanilla and blend well.
- 3 combine dry ingredients and add alternatively with water to creamed mixture.
- 4 pour into greased floured 9" round layer pans or two 8 inch square pans.
- 5 bake 350 for 35-40 minutes for 9" layers or 40-45 minutes for 8" pans.
- 6 cool 10 min and remove from pans.
- 7 cool completely and frost as desired.
