Chocolate Fudge Cake

Total Time: 50 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 10
  • 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups water

Recipe

  • 1 cream butter, shortening and sugar in a large bowl.
  • 2 add eggs and vanilla and blend well.
  • 3 combine dry ingredients and add alternatively with water to creamed mixture.
  • 4 pour into greased floured 9" round layer pans or two 8 inch square pans.
  • 5 bake 350 for 35-40 minutes for 9" layers or 40-45 minutes for 8" pans.
  • 6 cool 10 min and remove from pans.
  • 7 cool completely and frost as desired.
