Easy English Butter Toffee Bars

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 24 unsalted saltine crackers
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (6 ounce) package semisweet chocolate morsels
  • pecan halves

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 375°.
  • 2 butter a 13x9 baking pan.
  • 3 arrange saltines right side up in a single layer in pan.
  • 4 melt butter and sugar over medium heat.
  • 5 bring to boil, boil 3 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • 6 remove from heat.
  • 7 stir in vanilla.
  • 8 pour over crackers, spread evenly with spatula.
  • 9 bake for 5 minutes, if crackers move, rearrange with a fork.
  • 10 cool for about 10 minutes.
  • 11 sprinkle chocolate morsels over top.
  • 12 let stand about 5 minutes the evenly spread over top.
  • 13 cool completely, then cut in 2x1 inch bars.
  • 14 place a pecan half over each piece.
  • 15 store in refrigerator.
