Grandma Reeds Chocolate Pie

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 egg yolks (reserve whites if topping with meringue)
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1 pie shell (baked)

Recipe

  • 1 mix sugar, flour and cocoa in saucepan.
  • 2 add milk, then egg yolks and stir with wire wisk.
  • 3 cook over medium heat until thick whisking often and being careful not to scortch.
  • 4 remove from heat, stir in butter and vanilla.
  • 5 place filling in baked pie shell and cool.
  • 6 once cooled top with meringue and brown or whip cream.
