Cherry Chip Scones

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1/4 cup milk, plus
  • 2 tablespoons milk, divided
  • 1 1/3 cups dried cherries
  • 2/3 cup vanilla or 2/3 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 drop almond extract

Recipe

  • 1 sift together flour, sugar, baking powder & soda.
  • 2 cut in butter.
  • 3 combine yogurt & 1/4 cup milk; stir into flour mixture just until moistened.
  • 4 add in the cherries & chips & knead about 8-10 times.
  • 5 on greased baking sheet, pat the dough into a 9-inch circle.
  • 6 cut into 8 pie shaped wedges.
  • 7 mix the 2 tablespoons milk with the one drop of almond extract & brush over the top of each wedge.
  • 8 separate wedges slightly & bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • 9 serve warm with butter.
