Hot Chocolate With Ginger

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/3 cup fresh ginger, chopped peeled
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 cups skim milk or 4 cups reduced-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup

Recipe

  • 1 in a medium saucepan, combine the first 3 ingredients and cook 5 minutes over medium high heat until the sugar dissolves and is golden; stirring frequently.
  • 2 remove from heat; cool slightly.
  • 3 stir in milk and syrup; cook over medium-low heat, stirring with a wire whisk. heat to 180 degrees or until tiny bubbles form around edge of pan, stirring frequently.

  • 5 strain the milk mixture through a sieve; discard solids.
