Double Chocolate Cake

Total Time: 45 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/3 cup salad oil
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate (2 squares)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4-1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup walnut pieces or 1/3 cup pecans

Recipe

  • 1 in an 8 inch square cake pan, combine oil and chocolate. heat in 350f oven for 4 minutes -- stir.
  • 2 add water, sugar, egg, flour, soda, salt and vanilla. beat batter with fork until smooth, uniform and creamy (about 2 mins). spread evenly in pan and sprinkle with chocolate chips and nuts. bake at 350f for 40 mins until cake tests done.
  • 3 great topped with whipped cream flavoured with creme de menthe.
