Double-chocolate Sugar Cookies

Total Time: 23 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 8 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar

Recipe

  • 1 melt 1 cup chocolate chips in saucepan.
  • 2 set aside.
  • 3 beat butter until creamy; gradually add 1 c sugar, beating well.
  • 4 add egg, milk, and vanilla, mixing well.
  • 5 add melted chips, mixing until blended.
  • 6 combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
  • 7 stir in remaining chocolate chips.
  • 8 shape dough into balls, 1 tablespoon at a time; roll balls in 1/2 c sugar.
  • 9 place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
  • 10 bake at 400 for 8-10 minutes.
  • 11 (cookies will be soft and will firm up as they cool.).
  • 12 remove to wire racks to cool.
