Granola

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup almonds, chopped or 1 cup other nuts
  • 5 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 5 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 cup dried fruit (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chip (optional)

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 250 degrees f. line two baking sheets with non-stick aluminum foil.
  • 2 mix the oats and the nuts in a large bowl and set aside. combine the rest of the ingredients in a small bowl and microwave on high for one minute. stir to dissolve the brown sugar and thoroughly mix. microwave longer if required to dissolve all of the sugar.
  • 3 pour the mixture over the oats and nuts and stir to coat. spread the mixture out in a single layer onto the foil-lined baking sheets. bake for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring the mixture every 15 minutes. allow to cool, and then add dried fruits, mini chocolate chips, or other add ins as desired.
