German Oat Cake

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups boiling water
- 1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- 4 ounces german sweet chocolate
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine
- 1/4 cup light cream or 1/4 cup condensed milk
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Recipe
- 1 combine water, butter, oats, and chocolate; let sit 20 minutes.
- 2 sift together flour, soda, and salt.
- 3 add brown sugar, eggs, and oatmeal mixture to dry ingredients.
- 4 bake in a 9x13 inch pan for 25-35 minutes.
- 5 frost while hot with topping.
- 6 topping:.
- 7 boil butter, cream, and brown sugar for 2-3 minutes; pour over warm cake.
