Fancy Fudge Cake

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 3/4 cups hot water
  • ice cream

Recipe

  • 1 mix flour, 3/4 cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt in an ungreased square pan, 9x9x2-inch. mix in milk, oil and vanilla with fork until smooth. stir in nuts. spread in pan. sprinkle with 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup cocoa. pour hot water over batter.
  • 2 bake 40 minutes at 350°f
  • 3 while warm, spoon into dessert dishes and top with ice cream. spoon sauce from pan onto each serving.
  • 4 variations;.
  • 5 crunchy candy cake: substitute 1/3 cup of taffy bits or 1/3 cup of candy coated chocolate for the nuts.
  • 6 mallow sundae cake: sutstitute 1 cup miniature marshmallows for the nuts.
