Crushed Peppermint Creams

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme
  • 2/3 cup butter or 2/3 cup margarine, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 6 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup finely crushed peppermint candy (about 10 hard round candies)
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 6 ounces chocolate-flavored candy coating

Recipe

  • 1 in a large bowl, beat marshmallow creme, butter, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  • 2 gradually add confectioners sugar until mixture is well blended.
  • 3 knead mixture by hand 2 to 3 minutes.
  • 4 add crushed peppermint candies.
  • 5 shape teaspoonfuls of candy into 3/4-inch balls.
  • 6 place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
  • 7 chill 1 hour or until firm.
  • 8 melt chocolate chips and candy coating in the top of a double boiler over hot water.
  • 9 using a fork, dip candies halfway into melted chocolate, shaking off excess chocolate.
  • 10 return to baking sheet lined with wax paper.
  • 11 chill until chocolate hardens.
  • 12 store in airtight container in a cool place.
