Crushed Peppermint Creams

Ingredients
- 1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme
- 2/3 cup butter or 2/3 cup margarine, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 6 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
- 1/4 cup finely crushed peppermint candy (about 10 hard round candies)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 6 ounces chocolate-flavored candy coating
Recipe
- 1 in a large bowl, beat marshmallow creme, butter, and vanilla extract until well blended.
- 2 gradually add confectioners sugar until mixture is well blended.
- 3 knead mixture by hand 2 to 3 minutes.
- 4 add crushed peppermint candies.
- 5 shape teaspoonfuls of candy into 3/4-inch balls.
- 6 place on a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
- 7 chill 1 hour or until firm.
- 8 melt chocolate chips and candy coating in the top of a double boiler over hot water.
- 9 using a fork, dip candies halfway into melted chocolate, shaking off excess chocolate.
- 10 return to baking sheet lined with wax paper.
- 11 chill until chocolate hardens.
- 12 store in airtight container in a cool place.
