Chocolate Oranges

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 4 oranges
  • 250 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup thickened cream
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grand marnier

Recipe

  • 1 cut oranges in halves, scoop out orange pulp.
  • 2 melt chocolate over hot water, cool.
  • 3 whip cream until soft peaks form.
  • 4 beat egg yolks and sugar until light and pale in colour, about 5 minutes, add liqueur.
  • 5 beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
  • 6 fold chocolate into egg yolk mixture, then fold in egg whites and cream.
  • 7 sit orange halves in patty pan, spoon chocolate mixture into oranges, cover, freeze until firm.
  • 8 to serve, cut each orange half in half again.
