Easy-breezy Brownies

Ingredients

  • Servings: 24
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans
  • 1/2 cup margarine
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 6 tablespoons buttermilk
  • 1 lb confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans

Recipe

  • 1 to make brownies: preheat oven to 350. grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan. mix together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. set aside.
  • 2 melt margarine, cocoa and water. bring to a hard, rapid boil. pour over dry ingredients and mix. add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and pecans. pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. bake at 350 for 30 minutes or tuntil a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • 3 to make frosting: bring to a boil butter, cocoa and buttermilk. add and beat confectioners sugar, vanilla extract and pecans. spread on top of the warm brownies in pan. cool in refrigerator.
