- 1 cup margarine
- 1 cup water
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups pecans
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 6 tablespoons buttermilk
- 1 lb confectioners' sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups pecans
Recipe
- 1 to make brownies: preheat oven to 350. grease and flour a 9 x 13 pan. mix together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. set aside.
- 2 melt margarine, cocoa and water. bring to a hard, rapid boil. pour over dry ingredients and mix. add buttermilk, eggs, vanilla and pecans. pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. bake at 350 for 30 minutes or tuntil a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 3 to make frosting: bring to a boil butter, cocoa and buttermilk. add and beat confectioners sugar, vanilla extract and pecans. spread on top of the warm brownies in pan. cool in refrigerator.
